Shoot Straight

In all the distractions of unproved technologies, budget fundings, assemblies, ministerial roles, and even basic belief-sets, most of the commentators on Labor’s Climate Change Policy have the focus askew. Why are so many with the ability to shoot not looking at the TARGET? Labor’s target of 450 parts per million of atmospheric CO2 flies in the face of the science Gillard avows. At our present level of 380ppm, Australia’s already losing the Murray Darling, the Barrier Reef, national water supply, biodiversity and coastal land to name a few. Labor’s Climate Change Policy will completely miss meaningful climate action until they realize the target is in the 300-350ppm range. Through the miasma of spin versus the largely irrelevant questions of this morning’s broadcast of such an essential government policy, Greens Senator Christine Milne appeared to be the only one squinting at the bullseye.
